Believe me I have been watching the web cams and snow depth charts because I am excited about getting out, but the cams and depth charts do not show enough snow for me to break my sled out yet.

Yeah head towards Bosebuck, I bring a GPS with topo maps downloaded onto it so I can find the good spots! (dirt roads that lead to high elevation)

What do you run for a GPS? I've got a Magellan that I bought the Topo software for. I suppose that would work. I dont think it shows a lot of dirt roads on it but it does show all the other roads. Thanks for the hook up.

Mine so far seems to be working great. I got the eXplorist 500 LE with the rechargable battery and I bought the AAA battery clip to go with it just for back up. I'll admit, I think the charging deal is kind of crappy. You've got to thread a cable onto the back in order to charge the battery. I thought that was sort of odd. How long before those microscopic threads strip out?

My 500 LE version came with a huge rebate on the Topo 3D software. All said and done it cost me $9.99. It seems to be great, it has all the roads on it across the entire US and it shows topo lines which show you all the elevations. You can block out certain sections of the map and load them against the baseline map software thats built into the GPS unit. I blocked out a HUGE section all around Moosehead lake from Rangeley Lake, over to Millinocket and up to Houlton and over to Jackman.

My Cousin was riding in Jackman between xmas and new years. I haven’t talked to him to find out how the conditions were, I was hoping that someone out there could tell me if its worth the drive from Waterville, or better yet anyone know anywhere closer to get snow?

Holy Smokes!!!!!!! Waterville to Jackman! Thats just a hop skip and a jump. If I were you i'd have been there a while ago. I hear the riding is pretty good in Jackman as long as you climb in elevation.

Pretty much all the cams are still looking poor. We'll see what this weekend and early next week brings. Is the ice getting ridable yet?

Just got back from Jackman, riding wasn’t bad it was better than I expected. Put on 130 miles, about 50 of them were very ****ty but the other 80 made the drive up worth it. There was still a lot of gravel and rocks sticking up in most places, the trail from Pittston Farms to North East Carry was in great shape one of the few trails that they are grooming.

Sounds like Jackman is going to get about 6" tonight through tomorrow. We'll see. With only 6" you'll have to hit the trails quick before its all gone.

I'll bet things are looking better now. If only it would snow again before this weekend.

If I don't have to work Saturday I will be heading someplace. Either way I will be riding Sunday if not Saturday. I have not decide where to ride yet. It will probably be either Oquossuc or Jackman areas. I have not decided yet. I am leaning towards Oquossuc seeing they have the most snowfall so far. There is more snow coming before Saturday too.

It seems like lots of trail reports are leaning back toward pretty poor conditions for the most part. They need a real good storm pretty quick to salvage much of this season. What a horrible winter AGAIN. Wow! This is just insane.
