It sounds like the politicians there are jsut as numb as the ones in NJ! Here they want to widen the Parkway but have to put tunnels under the roadway so the rattlesnakes and frogs can safely cross under without getting run over!
I think we're all in the same boat, we keep electing the dumbest people to make sound decisions and it never seems to happen!

it is a crazy thought that they would do that though maine for such a minor improvement for the region.
as for the tunnels for snakes and frogs... are they going to have traffic cops to make sure they get into the tunnels. LMAO.

It's called political pork, taxpayers money being wasted so some dumb political a-s can say next election, "Look what I did for the area!", yeah screwed it up!
Can you believe that! We can't get atv or snowmobile trails built here but the snakes and frogs get tunnels! They'll probably want to station a Trooper there to direct traffic through the tunnel and keep the snakes from eating the frogs!

I don't know what to say. But I don't see how that would help. We travel there to ride and the road isn't what keeps people away it is probably the cost of traveling to get there and you have to want to go there in the first place.

NJ, the only place that you have to pay to get on the public beaches! I gave up going years ago except for striper fishing at night.

This whole state is chock full of this type of hypocrisy and outright nonsense.
Check out the other news item that hit the board about the LURC... now let's put the two together...
We want to expand the highway system to a more remote part of the state... yet at the same time expand a commision's power to keep people from developing land in those same "remote" parts....
HUH??????
Your Maine tax dollars at work.

I learned along time ago that "us" from away can't offer our opinions without being challanged by a "Mr. Man" or two. We can only watch and observe. But it would be nice for the people in Maine to look South and see how screwed up it's become.
Dad, The original "Maniac" in our clan, used to tell me that a smart man learns from his own mistakes but a wise man learns form the mistakes of others.
There's a talk radio station down here that promotes a program called "GRIP". It stands for, GET RID OF INCUMBENT POLITICIANS!
Might work up country as well!
