this is whee you use the "lock topic" function. Otherwise you're going to generate a lot of "concern" that the season is going to be "shortened".

See sometimes I think it's ok to bring up old topics... On the other maine snowmobile site, the one which prunes topics, there used to be a great topic on custom built garages. I think it was posted about 2-3 summers ago. Last summer I went looking for it as a friend was building a garage and I could have used some info from it and it may have been worthing bringing back up. Unfortunately, as I stated... they prune messages every summer so it was lost. :wallbash:

Locking shouldn't prune it just kill it from further discussion. You want to start another "false" topic feel free this one's locked. There's a difference between delete and lock.

I totally realize there is a difference between locking and deleting/pruning... But sometimes it can be worth bringing up old topics...
I can start a poll and see what the members think... maybe we can lock all topics over 9 months old... if anyone else besides O24 thinks it's a good idea i'll run a poll for a while and see what the masses think.

I sometimes like when old topics are brought up. Sometimes it has been a year sometimes several. Sometimes feelings change or more experience has been earned. I know it happens a lot on my fishing sites. Someone will bump a topic from 6 years ago and everyone gets all emotional.

I don't think he meant lock it as in close it down. I think he meant to lock it so to remove the rumor that all grooming has stopped.

Sort of. If it was up to me I would just put a post at the end of the topic that said this was a year old and was being locked so noone would mistake it for a current event. Then I would prevent any further posts to it by locking it. You don't lose anything by doing that. Who's going to drag this one up in the future? It's not like it's instructions on grandma's blueberry crumble. It's someone who mistook it for a current event and added to a dead topic.
