Trails are awesome and with the new Comfort Inn they now seem to be keeping the West end of the RR Bed--After the RR Trestle Bridge to the West Farm. P.O. groomed this year a lot better. I'm not sure if Comfort Inn got their own groomer or if they made a substantial donation to the Club, I have noticed that the C.Inn has put up numerous signs on the trails pointing you in to them from all ways into the RR Bed

Do you know if there is trails leaving right from the Motel? Thats actually only 4.5 hours for me. That might work out good.

Rooms look about $104 a night with AAA discount.

Yes there is a trail, I think that is the main reason why all of a sudden they are grooming that end of the RR Bed, grooming right out of the parking lot almost daily from what I have seen. My house is less then 5 miles from the Inn by sled--3 by car.--There is the Farmington Inn also which might be cheaper, you'd have to ride the edge of the road 40 yards which is no biggie "if" you save 30-40 bucks a night

Jeff, If you stay in Skow the rooms are 50 a night and about the same distance.

Farmington Motel is also decent - heck even has high speed internet - clean- but 1970's ish - last year was 55$/nite - trail side- park and ride - have not checked this year yet as have been in Eustis, but plan on it in a few weeks

I've stayed there once a few years back. Its actually pretty decent through there if there is enough snow. I remember there was a lot of road crossings.

We usually drive up a little to Solon or Bingham. Just like the price and the place is clean. I like to keep it as realatively cheap as possible. Farmington is a nice area to ride from if the signage is decent. Last year the wife and I had to make some educated guesses. Steve and I had a couple problems with signage this past weekend up in the Rangeley area. Not that there werent signs just confusing ones.

Ty, Does the Solon Hotel still rent rooms? Years ago we stayed there and then went north towards Bingham and then off to nowhere in Brighton on the sleds. The Evergreen campground has some real nice cabins that sleep six to eight right on the Kennebec River in Solon too. The also have a small restuarant on site for either breakfast or dinner and a fireplace to sit around in the lodge.

It's also where I met Gaddabout Gaddis and started fishing with him.

Not sure we stay at the Belmont if we go there.

Beware of the crosscountry skiers on the rr.bed in farmington! Some of them donot like to move over and will wave their poles at you.

I specifically remember that about Farmington. I understand it is a multi use trail but be carefull skiers.

Cant we all just get along?? -- lol -- damn tree hugging non gas burning eco grape nuts--I got a pole to wave at em.(as long as its not to cold and I can find it) -- SO.... now that snowdeo is over when we group riding it? Plenty of parking at my house and the trail is 25ft from the house to everywhere.

Hey.... so you made it back with the trainload of people, animals, & stuff all crammed into the car?

Trailer worked out good... got the lights wired & got all 4 sleds up there.

One minor detail on the way back... a car starts honking at the wife's friend who is pulling that trailer as we're going down toward the truckstop on Rt4... we pull in and the bracket for the light & plate on the left side had broke and was dragging the light & plate down the road by the wires.

No biggie... tossed it in the back of my truck & welded it back together this afternoon... all back & working again.

Got a few things to do tomorrow & Wed. (one of which is a mysterious grip heater on the Wife's sled that cuts in & out)... what are you up to Thurs?... anything?

4-6 down here followed by rain... quite the change from the 8-12 they were calling for less than 2 days ago... It's ok though, I'm glad to see the north country getting more.

NOAA is predicting 8" to 14" for Portland at last glance, the amount of sleet mixing in will effect totals...

Why do I have to love fishing? Put no effort into the sleds and look what happens. A perfect base then snowstorm after snowstorm.

Or you could be like me.... put a ton of money & time into summer mods....

and still....

My 'Gade... still doesn't have the right rear axle in it for the track/driver conversion & I'm just about out of "stretch" adjustment... bearings SHOULD finally arrive this week... which means pull the skid and put in the rear axle, and finally get the reworked 440 center shock in it... if I get lucky maybe I can find some more time to play with the clutching more... would like to try 2mm oversize rollers in the primary but don't know if I can pull enough pin-weight out to make 'em work with a 377 belt... may have to find lighter TRA arms... also according to my clutch pen-mark I can still drop the gearing some more also.

Her GSX... now that the grip issue is fixed & replaced with a new one... sometime between now & spring conditions I want to put a Renegade cooler in the tunnel (got lucky... found one for $175)

Kid's ZX 500... tore yet ANOTHER intake boot... (I'll never buy Marshall boots again - half season on 1st set - about 300 miles on the 2nd)... Kimpex had 5 of the 03 ZX 500/600 boots left in stock... I grabbed 4 of 'em... should be here Thurs or Friday so I can toss the ones that are on it... one of which is "MacGyvered" with cloth tape & silicone... will swap out the cracked throttle lever at the same time (which is also currently "MacGyvered")... did finally move the choke lever up to the upper console after he smashed a 2nd one with his knee... really should find the money/time to install a Holtzman ATACC for it to help the mixture at altitude... and a 40 deg helix & more clutch test/tune time would be nice.

**** Dix I would have a break down if I had all that in my head. I lube, spark, oil and gas, belt and go.
