Hey guys -
Can anyone provide a update on Eustis area? I will be there with three others this weekend 1-21 to the 24th. We know snowdeo in Rangley is those dates so we plan to keep well away from that area, so will probably head north, or ITS 89 to the Forks, down to Bingham, thru New Portland, up to Kingfield, thru Carabasset, and into Stratton before cutting back across Flagstaff to Eustis.(assuming the lake is somewhat safe - I know water level was high and open before the first storm.)
Thx-
Dave

Well we made the trip hoping for the best - trails where decent- as outlined in my original post we did a few different loops as we had newbies with us. Basically everywhere was the same - good - but by Sat night/Sunday most of the corners where showing alot of grass and rocks where coming up. The exception was ITS 86 up to the boarder- looked like they even had a few fresh inches Saturday night. However, it was obvious that this rain is going to kill alot of trails. I give the Arnold club credit though- we saw the groomers each night AND each morning! We did get some gas in the Forks that had water in it. My SDI threw the check engine light on within a mile of leaving the place. Added star-tron and it went off a few miles later. I refuled at Sunoco in Eustis with super and it was fine that night and Sunday.(where they have new decals highlighting 10% ethanol content-LOL) ----pics below- ITS 86 on way back from Canada, trail to Bigalow Lodge-closed Friday of course- our friend who was so amazed by the mulch piles he drove off the trail- no injuries-just laughs, and then me down by Ayottes-the mini-van did fine with the enclosed unit thank god the roads where dry- then Grand Falls--THINK SNOW!!!

Looks nice! My sdi did not fare as well as yours. Not sure why but I am happy that yours is still running. Interesting that the check engine light was on and water was the issue.

yeah-did not expect that this year -but too much of a coincidence - older station- 6 pumps, 5 all tied up, with a sign to only use the center pump....but buddies sled was on vapors and not that familiar with the Forks so we stopped at first gas we found coming off ITS 89. After experiencing the phase seperation last year all season, with Dix's help, I tried Star-Tron - about a ounce and a half, problem solved. I carried it this year "just in case".Fresh gas the next day and no issues, no Star-Tron needed, so that pretty much isolates the gas as the issue....

Guess I gotta get some Star-Tron.
OT from the OP, but had what seemed a fuel issue myself this past week.
Had some gas from local station in sled, but filled up at a station on Thurs. and sled started backfiring on shut down and running weird. Got home after 40 miles and topped it back off with gas from a local station and added marine stabil. No more backfiring or rough idle. Maybe coincidence, but I rode the same loop more or less on Sat. with new gas (mixed with stabil) and no more acting up. Don't think I'll be filling up at the place I stopped at for a while. I don't usually drain the tank on one ride anyway (ride powerlines and woods right out of garage), so just peace of mind to fill at home out of cans from station I know I never have issues with.
Any issues with mixing star-tron and stabil?

hmmm- not sure- I had stabil in the tank over the summer- ran that half down on a shakedown ride, added fresh gas here in MA outside Boston, then ran that down in Maine, then got one tank at Sunoco in Eustis, before hitting that station at the Forks for 3/4 tank....stabil probably long since gone before I added Star-Tron.......

If you are using Stabil make sure you use the blue Marine Stabil, that is rated for ethanol. The pink stuff won't do the job! 1 1/2 ounces to a tank does the trick!

Great pics. Was the gas from Berry's Store or was it from Northern Outdoors?

Sounds like Berry's... only one pump working. Seems like there's always only 1 out of 6 hoses working at that place.
