Rockabema Snow Rangers Patten,Northern Maine
Grooming 120 miles of trail thru 10
townships and two counties in the Katahdin region
1/23/10
Sorry for the delay on the report. We've been having some tire issues on the groomers.
All trails in the Rockabema system are flat as a flounder.
The recent snowfall gave us enough snow to finish freezing up all the wetholes we have been dealing with.
ITS 85 from the 85/83 jct to Big Sebois bridge was done thursday nite along with 112 west from Patten.
PLEASE NOTE;
About 3miles west of rt. 11 on connector trail 112, there will be an ongoing logging operation with the trail going through the stacking yard. Stop and be sure the equipment operators motion you through before proceding.
It's very important that they see you in order to stop swinging logs to allow safe passage.
We will be looking for an alternate route to alleviate this safety issue.
ITS 81 from Sherman Station, north to Patten, through to Shin Pond. and beyond to the Camp Violett road is in excellent shape.
Connector trail 112 east towards Island Falls is groomed and ready to ride.
Club trail 62 from 112 to 81/85 north of Shin Pond still has some plowed road to share with logging trucks.
BE CAREFULL. Slow down, and stay extremely right.
Club trail 64 (pub trail) starting 4 miles north of Patten all the way to Shin Pond is good riding, as well as the scenic trail 81A. Nice clear days this weekend are sure to give some incredible mountain views.
