just curious.... how tall is that fence... looks like there's about 3' of snow on the ground there...

The snow is covering the swings. Must be 2ft+. Eric and I came pretty close to two Moose on our last trip. Closest I have ever been anyways.

2 and half - 3' is about right, normal year you shouldn't even see the fence. We get a lot of wind down the slough that tends to blow the snow in drifts across the yard.

We get a lot of Moose in yard when it starts to warm up. I almost ran into one riding yesterday on the trail, she walked out of the trees about 10 feet in front of me, gave me a nice little adreniline rush.

10 ft what did you do? Go right by it?

I was riding alone up at Iowa Dome, a nice semi hilly area a bit north from the house and had about 48 miles on and decide to head back home. I was heading to the Alpha C and Cleary trail (local mine roads we use as trails) to turn around when a Cow Moose walks out of the trees. I'm not sure who was more surprised, her or me, fortunately I was only going about 10 mph's since she was only about 10 feet in front of me when we both got stopped. I'm sure if I had been driving 35 or better, she and I would of gotten a lot more physically intimate than either one of use wanted to. Moose and sleds don't do well together in physically contact games. My sled would probably of hurt her and I know her hoofs would of hurt the hell out of me while she used them to kick the you know what out of me.

She just stopped in the trail, I stopped and then she walks on with what I know was a smug little smile on her face about who had the right of way.
