Just curious if anyone rides with an open face helmet.... Why do you prefer it? What advatages are there over a full face helmet... Do the goggles ever fog up??

I just read a few posts on SF and a lot of guys seem to like them. Much better visibility and the googles don't fog up. Most said to get a nose guard like the sno-cross racers wear for cold days. On warmer days you can get away with the balacava. One thing I heard from someone was that when you are going fast the wind tends to pull up on the visor of the helmet.

I am getting one next year and will keep the full face for when it gets really cold or raining.

the problem with keeping the full face for cold or rainy days is most of the time youre already out riding and if you re a hundred miles or so from where you started you may not have gotten a rain forecast so you ll rarely have the right helmet when you need it ... Temperature is the same... alot of times you jump out of the truck in the morning and it great outside so you re dressed light and come the end of the day you re still a few hours out and the temp has dropped 20 or 30 degrees and you re freezing and now your face is frostbit cause you have on the motocross helmet. make sure you carry all your cold weather stuff with you when you re riding with the motocross helmet

Duck Tape.. Me I like a full face, but the guy I know who prefer open face / half face should carry duck tape to tape your exposed areas, works great to help the cold. The Iron Dogs guys use it all the time.
