So I picked up a 2000 XC 7 last season. A friend rode it about 10 miles when it quit and had no spark. I let it sit all last season but tore into it this past weekend . Found that it had broken all the bolts that hold the windings to the stator plate so the windings were spinning on the crank . Doesn't appear that the crank is bent. What else would cause this? Anyone have a used stator cheap?

My guess is a screw loosened up and got in there and ripped everything apart. Loctite them the next time around.
Some used stators on Ebay. Is the flywheel junk also? I found this one on Ebay.

Is the sled an XC SP or an XC Deluxe?

XC Deluxe The screws are broken not backed out. Part # is 4060213 specific to 99-01 xc 7's

I still think something got in there and got wedged between the coils and tore it apart.
And that part number is not just specific to that one sled. It's used on RMK,s Classics, XC 6 and 700's. Older stators from 96 and 97's supersede to the newer number so I'd assume those older parts will even work for you.
4060140 and 4060187 supersede to the 4060213 also.

This link is handy. http://www.partspitstop.com/pages/parts/viewbybrand/default.aspx
Use the Quick Part Look Up on the right. Select Polaris then enter your part # in the "Search For" section then click Quick Look Up. That will show you all the sleds that use that same part.
