hmmm seems like were this high everyone was bitching about it... not it's like whatever... Gas around me is between 2.65-2.79 for the cheap stuff and the national average is 2.66.... I really can't believe prices are still going up. I really think the gas companies will have another record setting year if this keeps up.
Part of me is actually glad there wasn't a lot of snow this year or i think i would have hurt our budget.. would have made for extremely expensive trip. I only hope that prices start to drop soon!!!

I couldn't agree more. I'd have barely any money right now if there was lots of snow! But it would've been well worth it!

oh without a doubt... i would have totally enjoyed putting on 1000+ miles this year... but at the same time i'm glad i only got the 500 i did... saves on gas money... expecially with my gas hog... lmao..

I still can't understand for the life of me how your gas mileage is soooo bad. Maybe your clutch alignment is out, because my dad has gotten about 7-8 mpg with his 99 xc 500, and the first thing people suggested to us is clutch alignment. Heck I even get 11 mpg with my triple. I ride with at least 4 guys that have REVS, two are shorttracks without SDI and they average 13 plus mpg. The other two are renegades with SDI and they average 19-21. Hope you solve the problem by next year!

I don't think the gas prices will go down till July or so. It sucks for me when I drive to the cape once or twice a week to fish.

yeah i'm gonna work on the gas millage issue this summer.... it definitely has to be better than what i'm getting....
It would be nice if they didn't continue going up between now and July though!!! I would be content with it staying the same.... but i much prefer to see it drop...

What I don't get is how gas stations can go up every day. I mean they get a shipment that must last more than a day or two right? But they go up every day to a new price.

I ve been pedaling to work for the last week and let me tell you ive really been considering finding work that i can pedal to all the time... Its nice... a little more work than i sometimes like but i spent a total of about $10 last week ... thats a bottle of water a double cheese burger and four bus fairs... so damn not even $10 ... sure beat the $40 or $50 i d be spending in gas

I wish I could pedal to work but I live 25 miles away. This is just getting out of hand. It will be a snowball affect also. Delivery trucks start charging more for their goods so the stores need to offset that cost by passing it on to consumers. I love my jeep for the 4x4 capabilites but the V8 hurts. Anyone tow two sleds with a V6? I assume two sleds and a trailer weigh a little more than 2,000 lbs. Are most trucks able to pull that with a 6?

I'm V8 (454 Vulcan) man myself and gas is getting to be the biggest expensive these days, at least we haven't gotten as bad as Europe yet, they pay $5.00 or $6.00 a gallon and more.
A 6 will pull your trailer and sleds, just be a bit slower on the hills. Have a couple buddies who drive 6's and they haul their trailer and sleds OK.

my trailblazer is a staight 6... pulls with no issues at all!!! drove it out to NY and back to pick up my REV... Towed the trailer out empty and made the return trip with the sled. Did about 300 miles with the sled... 700 during the whole day. Drove on the highway cruising at 70-80 in NY... then drove though state routes though VT and into central NH... had no problems towing it at all... most of the time we didn't even notice the trailer was there. I get an avg of 12-15 for gas millage but i've got a bit of a lead foot. I suppose if i slowed it down some I could do much better...
Also saw last night the price of crude oil is at a record high of $71 a barrel... and yup all of the local gas stations jacked up their prices. An exxon around the corner has reg. for 2.89, plus for 2.99 and premium for 2.97.... guess they aren't selling enough premium. LMAO.

That is the only issue I have, I must have enough tow capacity. I hate when trucks are underpowered and need a lot of help up a hill. I also pull a boat so I need to consider that as well. If these prices keep up I will need to get a 6.

or go brand new... the new chevy tahoe has a new motor that's only uses all 8 clynders when its's needed... when it's not needed it drops to either 4 or 6... ends up getting about 24mph high way driving...

Yeah but it probably costs 40 grand. If I start making some real money that is what I want. I always have or a Denali.

I was thinking wheeler for your summer sled rides, but then gas would still be to expensive ;)
I ride a motorcycle in the summer to help keep my gas bill down, this way I can spend more in the winter.

Tynan, maybe you could pick up an older beater car, there are tons out there that will get the job done and leave plenty of $$$ in your pocket, my saturn gets anywhere from 33 mpg in winter to 40 mpg in summer

yeah... we've only got the 02 trailblazer.... good thing we don't drive very much! Most times I need to get the oil changed due to the time passing by, not the millage. LMAO.

i get pretty stir crazy... i really prefer the country..... atleast it's not too bad were we are. Our neighborhood is very quiet. I just really miss going outside at night and being able to see as many stars as possible without the glow from street lights and everything else that's down around here.

Apr 25, 2006, 02:35 PM
Well you and the boy should take the train into Worcester for the day and we could take the kids fishing or something.

well i've got gas in that truck from about 2 weeks ago. LMAO we haven't really driven anyplace recently... just short blast here and there. Definitely not enough to go though a full tank yet.
We'll have to figure out a time to get together... the next couple of weeks are pretty hetic though... little guy's 2nd bday is coming in and i gotta wrap up the many projects i've started around here. LMAO.

Same here. Man it is tough with 2 kids. I am letting the wife sleep in this morning. Mr. Mom just put the baby down for a nap and is doing the ABC's with Tynan. Well that is on the keyboard. Don't tell the wife though.

in canada gas is a $1.09 a liter. my family travels 2.5 hours every weekend to get to our cottoge. but luckly my father is a manager at a car delarship so he gets demo"s so in summer he drives an uplander and in winter he drives an envoy/trail blazer and some times a truck. but gas gets expensive.

At least the price has been steady for now. A couple warm days and come June I am sure it will climb right back up. Gas is under .30 cents a gallon in Venezuala.
