I tried dropping my wife a hint, more like saying "But it's fathers day, my day!!! I'm a father! Hint hint." Didn't work, never works before I have to leave for work! (especially when I'm on mids!)

See the problem with this line is that you are not her father...and if you were....you wouldn't be getting any either. Gotta come up with something better

Well my schedule is the worst, I think at least. I realy don't have set hours. Where ever they need me they put me. Until I am there for some time this is what I have to deal with. Days are 0730 to 130, afternoons are 1530 to 2330 and mids are 2330 to 0730. We work 5 days on 2 days off 4 days on 2 days off. So we work 40 hours less then the average woek year of 2040 hours. When I get my schedule after a few years, or when a few guys retire and they hire more below me, it will rotate. 5 on days, 4 on afternoons, 5 n mids, 4 on days, 5 on afternons and so forth. The good thing is that we know our schedule a head of time. What sucks aboutit now is that I could work all kinds of hours. For example. Last week I worked days on day 1, then came back 8 hours later for mids day 2 (because technically the midnight is for the next day) then afternoons for day 3, back 8 hours later for days for day 4 and doubled back again for mids counting as my 5th day. Talk aout messed up. I hate being a relief person. Thy put us where they need us.

Thought I could get around it. I work in dispatch at the Police department dispatching Police and Fire. I try and not draw too much attention to it because people can be dicks about it. I haven't had any issues yet, but I get real protective of my family because of work. I don't want them at risk for any reason whether it be work or internet fun!

ahhh understandable... i was guessing it was something like that... something related to police, fire or ambulance... They usually see hours like you described.

yep. When I was o the streets I worked for a commercial ambulance company as a medic for just shy of 9 years. That wasn't bad. We did 4 on 4 off. 2 days and 2 nights. 5 am to 5 pm for the days then 5 pm to 5 am for the nights. That was a great shcedule. Id'e take those hours in a heartbeat.

well it sounds like your position could be good once you get some seniority and have a better of what your schedule will look like.

Hopefully. We got one guy retiring (finally!) this week. So the big question is if they are going to replace him or not. If they do it's just one more below me to make me happy!!
