Arctic Cat Snowmobile Recall (9/20/06)

Arctic Cat is recalling more than 50,000 snowmobiles because of possible steering control problems.

The company is asking people not to ride the machines until they've been taken to a dealer for free repairs.

Here are the Arctic Cat models being recalled:

All 2002 440 Sno Pro Models.

All 2003 Firecat 500/600/700, Firecat 700 Snow Pro, and 440 Sno Pro models.

All 2004 Firecat 500/600/700 (STD and Sno Pro), and Sabercat 500/600/700 models.

All 2005 Firecat 500/600/700 (STD and Sno Pro), M5, M6, M7, and Sabercat 500/600/700 models.

All 2006 Crossfire 600/700, Firecat 500/600/700, Firecat 700 Sno Pro, Sabercat 500/600/700, and all M-Series models.

Customers with questions can call Arctic Cat at 1 (800) 279-6851 between 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

well from what i understand this recall doesn't effect how they are towed :-P LOL...

I can't knock cats too much... my doo happened to be pulled out by one last year... of course that's when I ran out of gas :lol: Makes upfor the previous season when i towed my father in laws cat out of the woods. Of course his was motor...

Id be lying if i said we didnt travel with a tow strap and jumperr cables. :roll:

i can understand the tow strap... but jumpers... whats wrong with the pull cord :-P

I have a 660... There is no pull cord. ES only.

my father in law has one as well... but i could have sworn there was a pull corn on it as well... guess i was mistaken though... if there is no pull cord then jumpers make perfect sence.

the 660 4 stroke ? No way you'd pull it, even if it did have a pull starter.

You can start the 660 off the clutch with the emergency strap just like a regular two stroke. However i believe it has to still be able to get the charge off the battery (Not positive though). But i have personally started it off the clutch. Pulls over very easily, doesnt start easily but pulls over easy.

EDIT*** Yes its the 660 4 stroke sorry forgot to mention that.

the 660 4 stroke ? No way you'd pull it, even if it did have a pull starter.well most of the time it's not as cold as it is up there so it is possible to pull start sleds :-P
