View Full Version : [Site Update] New Forum Permissions

Enough is enough.... I'm sick and tired of spam... I've weighted the options and decided the site is going to be locked down... well not really... I have changed it so that guest can no longer post.... So this means that you do have to register in order to post a message.... but it also means that spam bots won't be able to post their crud on our site anymore. I've already set it up so they can not register and now that I've changed the forum permissions they can't post as guest. I was hoping to keep the site open to guest posting but the spam has become too much of an issue. Yesterday alone we got nailed with over 20 spam messages.... so enough is enough.... good bye spam!!!

Well tynan I just open it for a second scroll it and then go back to the unread forum list and do it again... I don't know any other way personally but maybe Eric can help LOL!!!

I do the same but as soon as I click it I hit the back button. I have about 20 spams on there right now and wish I didn't have to go through them all.

Well tynan I just open it for a second scroll it and then go back to the unread forum list and do it again... I don't know any other way personally but maybe Eric can help LOL!!!That's pretty much the only way... but the spam is now gone from the public eye ;-) Tynan I PMed ya.

Thank you. What you can also do is at the top of the Forum Index. Hit the all forums read link. If you do this after you have checked all the new posts you care to it should refresh your unread posts page.

Thanks Eric... I know you didnt want to boot the guest off from posting but if a person really wants to share something on a post then they will take the time to register and become a member... So at least your members list will rise more quickly...
