02/05-Farmington/Wilton Area+Points North
Well they been grooming ITS89 & 82 but the snow depth leaves a lot to be desired, wide open trails are so so and in the woods its worse. I've seen a lot of sleds out but they have to be BEATING the crap out of them, we need at the least 1 more decent snowfall for the riding to be enjoyable. Just my .02's worth.Check my last post in this thread for 02/05 updates

Re: Farmington/Wilton Area
Actually I would prefer the bad reports. Makes it a little easier to be sitting here reading them, lol.

Re: Farmington/Wilton Area
Well men its looking good! Thurs. we got at least 6" then yesterday(Fri.) we got another 6-8" and according to the weatherliars were supposed to get another 14-22" in the Farmington/Wilton area on up northwest ward on top of whats fallen already, so far since I woke up this morning(Sat.) we have gotten 5 to 6" and the storm supposedly hasn't even hit us yet and they say the bulk of it is to fall early evening through the night into Sun. night and taper off come Mon. Here's the good part though, even if we only get another 12" instead of the 14-22" the trail will be killer, sledding will be what its supposed to be like in the winter FANTASTIC!. So get ready to call in sick, rob the months bill money and get ready to go sledding. I'll post up again in the morning(Sun.) on whats happening.

Re: Farmington/Wilton Area
I haven't been on the trails yet but here in the foothills we've gotten a HONEST 18"+ of good heavy packing snow that we don't have to worry about dissipating. If you add this storm with what fell Thurs. & Fri. then I'd say we've gotten an easy 26"+ of snow this week so the trails should be super. I'll post up again after I've had the chance to get out on the trails later on today. Happy Sledding

Farmington/Wilton Area 02/05+Points North
Trail condition are really hurting around here there is a thin icy layer everywhere so slide lube is poor, rocks are sticking through and the only people you see riding are the young kids out in fields or some OLD OLD beater on the trails. Sorry to be the bearer of the bad news but I know you all are most likely experiencing the same thing in your area.--- On the bright side some friends of mine just come back from Bosebuck and the riding was fairly decent heading into the back country. Another couple of friends also went up to Moosehead and this was their post on the ride....Two to three miles north of the West Forks on 87 is very nice all the way to 88. EVERYTHING south of the West forks is shot to hell. 86 West is awful. 89 is really bare. 88 is fantastic to Jackman. The Moosehead trail to Rockwood is outstanding. There is some very good riding on 87 and 88, but everywhere else we tried was really bad. Even on 87 and 88 there are some exposed areas and rocks, but with some bobbing and weaving using the whole trail you will be fine. Everywhere else is bad. Best thing you could do if you're staying in the Forks is trailer to Jackman and head east or north to Canada. I imagine all the secondary trails north of Moosehead are nice too up to the Farm etc. Hope this helps anybody who's looking for a place to ride--MaineSled

Re: Farmington/Wilton Area
Thanks for update. Looking for some place within 45 minutes or so of Augusta.
Guess Farmington is out.
I used the break in snow to get some maintenance stuff done.
Got to find the silver lining.

Re: Farmington/Wilton Area
Washington D.C. is getting the most snow in the history of the city though.
Good for them. *sigh*

Re: Farmington/Wilton Area
Shawn,
We're getting pounded here! I can hear the Canada Geese in the brook that feeds the lake behind the house. It's the only open water around for them. Like I said, I can hear them but it's snowing so hard and blowing with 40 MPH gusts that I can't see them and that's less than 300 feet from the back door!
